Overview
Weighty old style metal Minolta lens, with big beautiful amber-straw dominant multicoated glass. Well constructed and a great image maker. But like many ‘fast’ lenses I’ve used it seems to have sacrificed wide aperture sharpness for speed. The only real exception I’ve used in 50mm is the Ricoh 1.4.
Because of its weight and the size I end up favoring the excellent Rokkor 45mm for general use, the 45mm is a later near-pancake style plastic housed lens that is on par with my other favorite SLR lenses: SMC-A Pentax 50mm/2.0 and Hexanon 45mm/1.8.
Repairs
None.
